March Madness…Quilters Edition.

Because who can resist a knockout tournament?

The What and the Why:

Nobody on the Quilt Buzz team is a huge basketball fan (one of us is married to one!), but we all know March Madness is a thing. It’s just not our thing. But regardless of where we/anyone stands on basketball, we think we can all agree that a knockout tournament is a pretty exciting contest.

With March Madness officially upon us, we thought it’d be fun to create our own March Madness...but with a quilters-twist (March is National Quilting Month after all). And so, having asked the same question in (almost) all our interviews this past year, we now want to ask you:

What’s YOUR favorite Kona color?

And then, we want to pit everybody’s favorite against each other in a knockout-style tournament with brackets and voting and a healthy dose of competition.  And if someone out there wants to take a crack at creating predictions of what fabric will reign supreme, we’re 100% here for that.

The How, the Where, and the When:

Here’s how this is going to work:

  • First Round (March 21-23): vote for your top three Kona colors via the Google form (these do not have to be the colors you use the most, just the ones you love the most!). Voting starts from March 21, 10am US EDT, and closes on March 23, 12pm US EDT.

  • Second Round (March 24): we’ll take the top 32, randomly sort them into brackets, and you vote on which color you like best of each pair (via Instagram Stories).

  • “Sweet Sixteen” Third Round (March 26): the “winners” of each pair move to the next round, and you get to vote again (via Instagram Stories).

  • “Elite Eight” Fourth Round (March 28): the “winners” of each pair move to the next round, and you get to vote again (via Instagram Stories).

  • “Final Four” Fifth Round (March 30): the “winners” of each pair move to the next round, and you get to vote again (via Instagram Stories).

  • “Championship” (April 1): it’s the final face-off of the top two colors and you get to vote one last time (via Instagram Stories)!

  • “Championship Parade” (April 2): we announce the winner of the first Quilt Buzz March Madness.

In order to be fair, after the First Round (which will take place on the Google form found via quiltbuzzpodcast.com) each round of voting will occur on Instagram from 12pm US EDT and will be open for 24hrs. We’ll publish the results on Quilt Buzz Instagram stories and on the dot com!
